
Katie Kirkland (Vice President) is a passionate educator and community advocate dedicated to expanding opportunities for young people in Escambia County. She currently serves as the 4-H Agent for Escambia County, where she empowers youth through hands-on learning, leadership development, and community engagement. Prior to her work with 4-H, Katie taught middle school for four years, where she developed her love for creating meaningful, engaging experiences that help students grow in confidence and capability. Katie’s passion for the arts began early. She was an active member of the band at T.R. Miller High School, where she proudly served as Drum Major, and she also participated in choir throughout high school. In addition, she has been involved in local theatre productions in Brewton over the years, further deepening her appreciation for the performing arts and their impact on community connection. Whether in the classroom, on stage, or through youth programming, Katie believes every child in Escambia County deserves access to enriching opportunities that inspire creativity, character, and confidence. She is committed to fostering spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Maegan Kirkland (Treasurer) is soon to be graduate of Lipscomb University in Nashville TN in May of 2026. She will graduate with a degree in Theatre Acting with a minor in Design Production with an emphasis in Stage management and Props. Maegan has been involved in many productions on the stage and behind it. Most recently she stage managed Lipscomb University’s Little Women (2025) Matilda (2025) and performed in Lipscomb University’s The Game’s Afoot (2025) and Radium Girls (2026). She is also active in Lipscomb University’s improv troupe Self-Improvement Troupe. She has worked as a scene shop Foreman since 2023, and props master of Lipscomb University’s theatre department also since 2023. Maegan grew up in Brewton AL and participated in every theatre opportunity she possibly could. Doing theatre in Brewton is what persuaded her to pursue a career in theatre. She loves the people and opportunities theatre brought to her and she is thrilled to be able to continue to bring theatre to the community she loves so dearly.

Sloane Hawsey (Secretary) is a dedicated community advocate with a deep commitment to creating opportunities for the youth of Escambia County, the home she cherishes. A talented freelance professional, Sloane transforms spaces both physical and creative bringing order, beauty, and joy to homes and projects from near and far. Her work decluttering and beautifying spaces has honed her eye for detail and her ability to find beauty amidst chaos, empowering her clients to fully enjoy the spaces they love. Beyond her freelance work, Sloane is passionate about all things beauty an art form that has inspired her since she first held a makeup brush. Whether through makeup, home design, or supporting local artists, she thrives on the creative process and the transformative power of art. Her early involvement in the arts began with the T.R. Miller High School choral program and has since grown to include key contributions to numerous local art events throughout Escambia County. Most recently, Sloane has focused on supporting emerging artists, using her unique perspective to enhance their work and help them showcase their vision with pride. Across every medium whether in a home, behind the makeup chair, or championing local talent Sloane is passionate about expanding arts opportunities for young people. She believes that a fulfilling, successful life can take many forms and is committed to inspiring the next generation to embrace their own unique paths. Caroline Nell Simmons (Media Coordinator) is a multimedia artist from Alabaster, Alabama. With a B.A. in theatre and studio art from the University of Alabama, she works as a freelance photographer and creative consultant. One can see her freelance photojournalism and sports works published in AL.com, The Tuscaloosa News, USA Today, The Shelby County Reporter, and FloSports.
